for Love and Dating
1. Love
and dating are two very different things, just as dating and love
are two very different things!
2. Don't
play games. Be who you are from the very first minute.
After all, it will only be a short time before that real you settles
back in and sets up shop. Who wants to lose out on all that
investment when the change occurs and you or your new friend doesn't
like what they emerges.
3. Do not
be needy. It scares off even those with the most caring
of personalities. Be independent and let the other person
know that you would consider being with him or her. It should
only be much later that a mutual want/need for one another develops
in a healthy and natural way.
4. Have
realistic expectations. These should be about yourself
first and your date second. Don't meet someone and expect
change. IT DOESN'T happen. You love the person for who the person
is, or I would suggest moving on.
Finally,
5. There
is a difference between lust, falling in love, being in love, and
loving. Lust is what draws you to the person and
is based on physical beauty and charisma. Falling in love
is the honeymoon. Here, you find out the good, the bad,
and the ugly, but still love it all. It passes. Being
in love blossoms when you know everything there is to know about
the person you love and you still love that wonderful person.
You look forward to your time with one another and any separation
seems a lifetime. CAUTION: Be realistic. At this
point, like many, you will find yourself having to make a conscientious
decision either to love and be with the person, or take a new path
on your own. Here you will find that you do not have to take
what you get. Last, but not least, is love. By this,
I mean the love you would have for a parent, a friend, a cousin,
or a brother/sister. I do not believe this kind of
love is what is needed to keep two people together. It just isn't
natural. Only you can know the difference.
You be the judge,
love and dating are exciting and multifaceted. Take
care of them both, nourish them, and watch them blossom.
